Memorial May: Don’t Forget What God Has Done

As we enter the month of May, we are invited to pause and reflect. Just as God established memorials for His people to remember His faithfulness, this is a time to look back on the past five months and recognize how He has brought you through every challenge. What felt overwhelming then is now a testimony. Write it down, remember it, and let it strengthen your faith for what is ahead.

We are entering the month of May.

For the past few months, we have been in that beautiful Florida “winter,” the kind we actually enjoy. Cool mornings, gentle breezes, just enough to feel a shift without discomfort. It has been good.

But May is a transition line.

Not just in the weather as we move toward summer, but in how we live. This is the season where gatherings increase. Holidays return. Memorial Day reminds us to pause. We spend more time outside, more time with family, and more time celebrating.

And if I’m honest, I love holidays. I mean really love them. I will prepare the day before, recover the day after, but on the actual day, I want to be present. I want to enjoy it fully.

But here is what dropped in my spirit.

In the Bible, God established holidays for the children of Israel. These were not just days off. They were markers. Memorials. Each one represented a moment where God moved, delivered, provided, or protected.

He told them to set those days apart so they would never forget what He had done.

They did not just celebrate.
They remembered.

So as we enter May, I do not just see a change in season.
I see an invitation.

This is a month of transition.
It is also a month of remembrance.

Look Back Before You Move Forward

Take a moment and look back over the last five months.

There were things you faced this year that you did not understand.
Situations that felt overwhelming.
Moments where you wondered how you were going to make it through.

And yet, here you are.

God brought you through it.

Maybe it did not look the way you expected.
Maybe it took longer than you wanted.
But He did it.

You are still standing.
You are still moving.
You are still whole.

Create Your Own Memorial

This month, I challenge you to do something intentional.

Write it down.

Write down everything God has brought you through in just these past five months.

Every prayer He answered.
Every situation He turned around.
Every moment He carried you when you did not have the strength.

Make your own memorial.

Because when the next trial comes, and it will, you need something to go back to. You need a reminder that the same God who did it before will do it again.

God Finishes What He Starts

This is not just about looking back.
It is about building faith for what is ahead.

The Word reminds us in Philippians 1:6 that the God who started a good work in you will carry it to completion.

That means:

He did not bring you this far to leave you.
He did not start something in you just to abandon it.
He is committed to the process, even when it feels uncomfortable.

Step Into May With Confidence

So yes, May is a transition month.

But it is more than that.

It is Memorial May.

A time to:

  • Remember what God has done
  • Thank Him for bringing you through
  • Strengthen your faith for what is ahead

As you step into this new season, do not rush forward.

Pause. Reflect. Give thanks.

Then move forward with confidence, knowing this:

The same God who carried you through the past five months
will continue to carry you through what is next.
